GAMETIGHTELECTRO – Dead In A Year 2004-2008 Vol. 1 & 2

Thursday, March 31st, 2016

From Brandon B:
“This album has major sentimental value to me. These songs bring back memories of a time where we were young and reckless yet showed potential of creating something great. This is not intended to be a rap album although my buddies and I wanted to spit the most obnoxious shit we could on a couple of these beats. All tracks were produced while I was living in Tucson, AZ with the exception of Devastating Beat Creators which was inspired by living in San Francisco and my profound love for old school hip-hop.”

If you’re into synths and shit, this is your record (Vol. 1 & 2)

Dead in a Year 2004-2008 will be online in stores 4/26/16 but you can download free here only if you agree to disturb your square-ass neighbors and bump this shit LOUD.

Gurpin’ for life.

Grand Killa Con – La Barranca (New Album) & “We Are G.K.C.” (Video)

Friday, March 25th, 2016

On Grand Killa Con’s latest LP releaseLa Barranca, DJ Brycon and MC Luke Sick connect with DrumDealer Music for 12 brand new tracks. Brycon handled all of the production and created a unique audio imagery for Luke to interpret with his equally idiosyncratic slant on rhythmical rhyme perception.

Many efforts have been made to bring back the murk and warm dust of traditional boom bap, but GKC understand that this is not achieved through tribute and imitation alone. Through diverse loop and break hoarding, Brycon stretches and chops the limits of 90s Akai samplers and the morph of a living and breathing record collection. By pushing a new creative expansion through the envelope seam of a rugged standard, Luke is allowed to wander the MC landscape, desperate to plant his flag and stake his claim. He exposes beauty beneath the peel and flake of a dismal façade that is a society where mics must be wielded like Molotov cocktails to the brain.

Deep in the Gurp.

Grand Killa Con “Dead Pheasant” (Official Video)

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

On Grand Killa Con’s “Dead Pheasant,” the latest leak from their La Barranca LP (due out on wax May 23rd, 2016), over a particularly dusted Brycon beat, MC Luke Sick raps: “In my Autonomous Temp. Zone, I’mma keep it all one hundred with the hemp rolled.” What does he mean? The concept he is referring to is taken from the writings of Hakim Bey concerning a Temporary Autonomous Zone or TAZ for short. “The TAZ is like an uprising which does not engage directly with the State, a guerilla operation which liberates an area (of land, of time, of imagination) and then dissolves itself to re-form elsewhere/elsewhen, before the State can crush it. Because the State is concerned primarily with Simulation rather than substance, the TAZ can “occupy” these areas clandestinely and carry on its festal purposes for quite a while in relative peace. [Kinda like underground music, no?] The State cannot recognize it because History has no definition of it, making it a perfect tactic for an era in which the State is omnipresent and all-powerful and yet simultaneously riddled with cracks and vacancies. Babylon takes its abstractions for realities, precisely with in this margin of error the TAZ can come into existence.” Like it says in the first paragraph: “particularly dusted.” The accompanying video was filmed by GKC themselves, seemingly as the TAZ dissolves. The End.

Grand Killa Con “Who’ll Be First?” ft. Awol One & Eddie K (Official Video)

Friday, March 4th, 2016

Grand Killa Con celebrates the vinyl release of their “52 Rooms” EP ( with these visuals for the song “Who’ll Be First?”.  Producer Brycon channels his inner-luddite via this 8-bit banger seemingly inspired by a kush nap in front of an NES console stuck on the Double Dragon pause screen. Furious in style as it is funky for the future shock, the beat challenges the GKC MC Luke Sick, and guests Awol One (Massmen/Shapeshifters/The Cloaks) and Eddie K (Bulletproof Space Travelers/Trunk Drank/Gurp City), to remain stoic and unabashedly ruff, rugged and raw while laughing in the face of an ever-softening, passive-aggressive, so-called “progressive” society. Who’ll be first to catch this beatdown, indeed. The accompanying visuals metaphorically recall a time in the Old Bay Area, where GKC hail from, when the marginalized and unheard made an effort to stick it to the man and baffle the squares at every turn, because life was nothing if you couldn’t do a little action every now and then. “52 Rooms” was released digitally through Megakut Records and can be heard here in its entirety:
