Grand Killa Con – “Sick Insane Cassette Tape” ft. DJ Quest

Thursday, August 20th, 2015

GKC sick insane

Grand Killa Con are back with yet another banger ready for your deck with the single “Sick Insane Cassette Tape”. This one features the incomparable DJ Quest lending his talents on the decks. This is one of them ones you just have to put on repeat a few times. Bump it in the hooptie, that fly shit you just got off the lot or your headphones on the train. It really don’t matter just play it loud yo. I was knockin’ this out the whip in front of the liquor store the other night and caught a couple O.G’s head noddin. They couldn’t help it cause it’s automatic. The new Grand Killa Con e.p. 52 ROOMS drops on 8/25 digitally with vinyl coming soon.

Grand Killa Con is back, simply because they never left. This one finds Luke Sick rhyming over Grand Puba’s Big Kids Don’t Play instrumental from the classic album Reel to Reel. Brycon and Luke Sick have a new album on the way entitled La Barranca but are keeping it gully with a series of leak tracks while the album marinates.

Brycon just blessed us with a brand new 10 minute instrumental suite using records from a recent dig in Quito, Ecuador. His talents as a producer are very underrated but the upcoming Grand Killa Con album will change all of that no doubt.

Gurped out lurking cutty routes.

Grand Killa Con (Luke Sick & Brycon) – “Hemmed Part One (Casualties)”

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

I was gonna write something up but Foul Mouth Jerk has a true gift with words:

“You know what seems to be happening a lot in recent years? Super Groups. Conversely you know what seems to be lost to the annals of history? Rapper/Producer albums. Not the Kanye West “a producer that raps” type, I mean one consistent, cohesive musical vision throughout an entire album done by 1 MC and his DJ/Producer or production team. Up until about 1993 it’s pretty much how all rap albums were made, these days not so much. Well you know who’s combining these two seemingly dynamically opposed concepts? No, you probably don’t because you don’t stay up on ill shit the way I do. But the answer is Grand Killa Con, a joint effort from Gurp City All Star Luke Sick, the lyricist behind projects like Sacred Hoop & Grand Invincible, and Brycon, a producer whose worked with everyone from Action Bronson to Living Legends to Masta Ace.

As a super group I’m gonna go ahead & rate them firmly right between The Hot Boys & The Traveling Wilburys. As a rapper/producer combo, I would put them somewhere in the neighborhood of a Marley Marl & Kane. Their first leak ”Hemmed pt.1″ is the beginning of their run up to this summer’s release of their full-length “Year of the Tre Bag” and is accompanied by a video that’s as grimy as the album title suggests.”
