“The idea behind the project is to take this current music and rework it into something entirely different while at the same time siting the source material directly, helping to create extended community within the underground music scene. To further share the inspiration for the project, it is available for free download, but also as youtube videos embedded to http://www.coolallover.com so that if interested, listeners can directly access the source material via the “related video” function on youtube. Also, embedded in the site will be direct links to each of the artist’s record labels so that listeners can order the albums that were sampled immediately if they so chose.

Permission to sample the material was given by all the artists.”
Thanks,
Al

Al Lover – Safe as Milk Replica

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

This is all over the web but its too good not to post here as well.
From Al Lover: “So here it is, one last final free download of the year. This one might be my favorite, fuzzed out psychedelic boom-bap shit. Big ugly drunken drums, over spaced out, chopped samples run through pedals and totally reconfigured into distorted madness. No Pro-Tools plug-in magic here, just straight MPC work. The grimy shit, beautiful ugly music. Pretty weird, the only way to make a Beefheart tribute, I guess. It’s been a tough week trying to get this finished, but I’m glad to have it all done. This one’s for you Beefheart, hope you like it.”

Al Lover & Gus Cutty – “All Mine” & “Part of the Game” double single + video

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

The Fist Fam are back at you with a new double single, here is what Al Lover has to say : “Two new tracks from my pal Gus Cutty and I, “All Mine” and “Part of the Game” using some samples I stole from a couple of our favorite SF bands, Ty Segall, and Thee Oh Sees. Ty Segall, and John Dwyer were kind enough to give us permission to uses both samples, thanks dudes, y’all are awesome for that. If you don’t know now you know, these band are producing some of the best Rock ‘n Roll out right now, so do your homework. Gus is killin’ the lyrics on both these tracks, and also did the creepy cover art. I made the beats. If you’re not aware this is the 2nd installment of 3 leaks leading up to the release of the new Fist Fam record “Posted” Coming out Winter 2010, so stay tuned.”
Download the Tracks for free here: Al Lover & Gus Cutty Double Single

Hope you enjoy, and spread the word!

Al Lover -Creative Controlled free download

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Al Lover is back again with another fresh project,

“This is basically a rhythmic rebuttal to Jeremy Earl from Woodsist, and the labels PR dude. They both sent me emails telling me to take down any and all downloadable links to the Woodsist Remix project I made a few months ago. Well, fuck that. I respect those cats, but I’m not gonna stop my progression because someones concerned with intellectual property rights or whatever. I don’t know, maybe they just think the shit’s wack. Sue me, I ain’t got shit. Anyhow, this project is a little different then the last couple sludgy, blown-out, tape hiss heavy beat reels I’ve made. I turned the quantization on for this one, and drank much Coffee while in the lab, as opposed to mass beer consumption for the last two. I find the cadence of the tracks to be more snappy and alert, for the most part. It was an experimental approach for me, I basically had no songs in mind to sample and just reached randomly into the crates and tried to make due with whatever I pulled out. A lot of the beats have no added drums, which is a strange approach for me. There is a lose narrative to the project about sampling laws, and intellectual property rights, just somethin’ thats been on my mind a little. Yeah, I hope you enjoy it” – Al Lover

Another Gus Cutty leak and Al Lover’s new video

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Alright then, here it is, Sour Baby Leak #2 once again produced by Micah Aza for Hardwork Productions. This has been the coldest and dreariest summer I have spent in San Francisco over the four years I have been here. Cold, dreary, and for those like me, infinitely inspirational. I wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered, and created a cover and video for this leak in under 3 hours. And so, this is what you get for those three, enjoy, and remember, word of mouth is my best friend. Thank you. -Gus Cutty
