King of the Burbs…

Posted by Thuggy

Did you watch VH1s The White Rapper show? Its hard being King of the Burbs right? Well if you haven’t been up in the message boards for a while maybe you should go check it out. Gurp City homie Homonym, former MC/producer for the now defunct Davis hip hop crew Jaded MCs has recently posted a track he did with the man who is “…not a rapper” but is “an entity.” Apparently Homonym and John Brown recorded this track over a year ago when he still lived in Davis, go check it out and leave him some feedback. Meanwhile Lets hope that the “Ghetto Revival” prevails. As the Mayor of Gurp City would say John, “Get yo Paper Rellie!!!”

Ed and Z played this past Friday at 111 Minna. Thanks to DJ Stef for taking pics and proving once again that if Luke Sick shows up and isn’t performing he’ll likely be the drunkest cat at the show.

the 40 oz show: 01.03.07…

Posted by Max

Listen to The 40 Oz Show, bitches!

Here it is — the first show of 2007. Hope it lives up to the hype. Oh, and one quick clarification: There’s a Ghostface track in this show on which he raps over one of my favorite DJ Premier beats, “Return Of The Crooklyn Dodgers,” but in my show-announcing haste, I accidentally referred to it simply as the “Crooklyn Dodgers” beat. Read about the difference by clicking here.

Check the playlist, cop an mp3 of the show, or subscribe to the weekly podcast… CLICK HERE.

Lobby Losers Gurp City

If you’re ever in the city of San Francisco, Head on over to historic Northbeach and rub one out at our favorite Live Peep Show spot. 1033 Kearny is the place of grace as MC Oroville calls it. The Lounge Losers give you “My Lusty Lady,” a tribute to Gurp City’s favorite spankhouse. We recommend going in the middle of the day and hitting Chinatown for some Hong Kong Dim Sum House afterwards, thier pork buns are stellar. So swallow your pride, cuff your pants and bring plenty of Purell for that awkward ride home.

Now I know it aint really new to most of you since its been all over their Myspace pages and whatnot, But Eddie K the Gurp City Allstar Vet and his Crew The Ill Squad Have a cut out right now called “The Bay is Back” (or TBIB as they like to say on the Basically this is the hottest shit ever and it features Oakland heavyweight Keak da Sneak on the track too. Theres a radio edit of this song floatin around as well, So you’d think KMEL would be all about it huh? NOPE. Bump the track, and if you’re feelin it send a lil request on over to the peoples station and tell them to play a cut the people want to hear.

Now Topr and The Hoop will definately put on a dope show. but if you need a lil more convincing, seeing DJ Quest wreck shop is well worth more than the price of admission. Check out a lil snippet from Quest’s routine at a Topr show a few months back.
