Took some time off to let you soak in all that dope we dropped last month. Z-Man and DJ True Justice have been on tour for the past week, check out the show if they are in your area. For the bay area heads:
Flier by Gus Cutty
After being in the group Supermarket but before Trunk Drank, Brandon B was in the lab making some really dope music under the name Gametightelectro. Most of these songs were recorded for our friend Peter Agoston’s Female Fun label but never got to drop. I have tons of gurped out memories listening to these songs over the years and I’m glad the rest of the world finally gets to hear them.
“Remastered classics recorded during the blurry and obnoxious years of 1999-2004. “Gurp City…fool it’s like Vegas” was the phrase that most accurately described our mindset back then. We were young and high, just straight living our lives and writing songs about what we knew: Rap Music and Partying. Shit was outta control during these years and we have the stories to prove it. Even into the latter years of ’03 & ’04 when Mr. Rawng would have hoes dancing to these songs at TD’s West. Most broads would request “Can I Borrow Some Sugar” or “Sock Ya Partna” when on the main stage. Even if some of them were ducks, we still were compelled to tip a dollar or two cause that was our shit and the club was fuckin crackin.
So yea whatever just a brief perspective on a few of these songs which are now known as some early origins of Gurp City. Download the album for free here. Available on itunes and all other retailers 2/10/2012.”
Features: Luke Sick, Eddie K, Fluid, Z-MAN, Mr Rawng and more.
Production by Vrse Murphy, Z-Trip, Radar, Jackson Sturlin & Lesean Smith
White Mic surprised us and dropped the album early for everyone to enjoy. Features Akil, Jules, Nem One, and Bored Stiff. I don’t think I need to say much about this project just let the music speak for itself.
We are pushin’ real hard this year, Shoutout to all yall that are paying attention and showing love. The Gurp don’t stop.
Our relly from up north just released his 20 track debut album on Under The Weather. Features Luke Sick & Z-Man on the lead single “The Killing Hours” as well as Copywrite, Block McCloud, Adil Omar, and Awol One. Cop it and crack a cold one.
Doug Surreal, Z-Man & Luke Sick got together a few years back (2004-2005) and recorded this bugged out project with mainey ass raps over genre bending futuristic b-boy slaps. A limited-run of 50 cassette tapes featuring songs 2-7 were pressed by Megakut Records in 2010 (sold out). Now offered digitally in it’s 10-song entirety here for the first time.

Group: Grand Invincible
Release: Winter 365 b/w Dead the Situation 7″
Format: orange-vinyl, 45 rpm, limited to 300
West Bay hardcore rap’s grandmaster grimies, DJ Eons One and Luke Sick (Grand Invincible), have teamed with SF’s illest MCs (Agentstriknine, Eddie K, and Z-Man) to release the 7” Winter365 b/w Dead The Situation, coming Dec 2011/Jan 2012 on 625Thrash. A pre-cursor to their upcoming releases, Winter365 EP and Dust Cigar: The Gurple Tape (both due out in early 2012), the 7” is two songs of raw rhymes, heavy drums and gritty, cue-burn adorned samples with the b-side track featuring guest verses from the aforementioned artists.
Grand Invincible gained secret infamy and invisible acclaim from the cutty-est and most crucial critical heads with their 2009 debut self-release Ask the Dust as well as their 2010 release Cold Hand in the Dice Game thru Alex Pardee’s Zerofriends collective. Since then the two man crew has been record digging and rhyme-writing like a couple of late night hypes on a serious jag, diligently pursuing the hardcore hip-hop ethos to the best of their ability while also coveting a uniquely identifiable style. Spending much of their time in the thrifts, the dive bar live venues and the lab, Grand Invincible has fostered a productive collaborative relationship with other likeminded artists on the Bay Area DIY scene, and it seemed only fitting to bring it all together for this release.
The 2-track 7” will be pressed on orange-vinyl with original cover art by Michael A. Freeman and be available thru Ebullition distro (www.ebullition.com) in late Dec 2011. The first pressing is limited to 300, on virgin vinyl at 45 rpm. Immediately following this release, both these tracks will be available for digital download as part of the entire Winter365 EP thru a yet-to-be-named digital provider. Winter365 7” is just an appetizer for more than a couple main courses to be served up by GI throughout 2012.
