What’s up kids? its been a min huh…. First off lets give super huge props to Big Max of the 40 Oz show for holding it down and keeping with the updates while the Gurpnet kinda fell off. Props to Dap 1 and Emcee Oroville as well. But we’re back now! We’re not gonna lie, its been a tough past couple of months. All of us here at Gurp City have been going through it in one way or another but still we manage to persevere through it all. We promise we’ll never leave you hanging like that ever again. Just to make up for it we’ve got a monster post with tons of goodies for you all to enjoy. But first, whats really good folks? Lets do a quick recap of the last couple months from off the top of the dome and if anything gets left out surely all the residents will mention it in the comments so keep up on this thread.
Tons more after the jump! Click Below!
When we last left ya we had just blasted off the MC Oroville “Do soMETHing” release party up in Chico CA and as you may have heard it was the undisputed Gurp City show of the year. Oroville would like to thank everyone for their support by giving away this free homemade video for the classic album cut “I Need a Hand Job”. The video was entirely constructed by MC Oroville himself! (DISCLAIMER: Please DO NOT download the video if you are under 18 years of age! We will not be held responsible for delinquent minors!!!)
Big Sammy “Cold Out Here”
Next, ya boy Big Sammy went off the hook and got Gurp City tatted on his arm. Thus showing why he’s a true boss en La Familia Gurp City. Check the free track from Big Sammy’s latest release.
Lets see, what else has been going down? All kinds of mainey shit huh, Lord Topr has a new album in the works, as well as Eddie K‘s new one, also a G Pek Compilation in the works. Luke Sick and DJ Eons One are going to be releasing the new Grand Invincible album exclusively here on gurpcity.net. Conceit and Z Man have albums that are slated to drop real soon on Gurp City’s sister enterprise Machete Vox Records (see That’s the Blap) so keep your ear here for more info as those projects develop. Lets not forget about that Motel Crew record neither.
As you know Conceit has been riding high off of the youtube contest winnings and was recently spotted hanging out in New York with former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield before opening up for Simple Plan on New Years Eve. Check the footage, rumor has it this show was broadcast on a jumbotron in Times Square just before the ball dropped. Conceit is for the children, I thought you heard.
Like I said, Im sorry about the lack of posts over the last 2 months. I’m sure you guys weren’t too worried (all 175 of you) but here’s a lil something from me to you. I like to call it “Thuggy’s batch of shit that’s never coming out but fools need to hear anyways.” Its just a hand full of songs from releases that will never see the light of day but the songs are gems that the people need to hear. So tell your folkers that the Gurp is back and shoot them a link to the goods.
The Gingerbread Man “Cocaine Dealer” from Halloweeen
I don’t know what Grimm is thinkin but Ginja The Ninja has been puttin it down for a long ass time. This song is just a short little taste, but I’m working on getting Z to let me leak the whole album real soon. So stay tuned.
Faydog “Fever Dreams” from The Ultra Jank
From the super limited Utra Jank album, Faydog rips it over this G Pek banger. My Rellie is fucking raw, nuff said.
Gametightelectro “Feelin’ Off the Hook” From Paranormal Bar Stars
Fuck all that new school retro-fashion-rap. Brandon B has been holding it down for the forefathers from the get go. Git you some Get Grown!!!
EZ (Eddie K and Z Man) “The Perk”
My Favorite Gurp City song EVAR!. This song embodies what the Gurp is all about. I used to throw Backyard Boogies back in Chico (with the help of everyone else of course) just so i could watch them perform this song live. What ever happened to the EZ project??? I have like 10 cuts, it could have been a classic.
Gurp City All Stars “Live From the Drunk Tank”
Eddie K, Z Man, Luke Sick and DJ Marz performing live from my living room on St. Patricks Day 2001. Everyone has their own theories on when, where and who started Gurp City. For me It was this day. Even though it wouldn’t get a name for another 5 months, this was the first time all the elements were in place. Listening to it now the show was a fucking trainwreck. But there are golden moments that stand out as classic material. Those who recall being there hold it highly as one of the best Gurp City parties ever. I just remember being hung over as fuck the next day looking at my destroyed house, getting ready to go to Mexico for a week and telling G Pek ” Man we should do that shit more often.”
Have a Happy New Year Yalls – Thuggy
