Gurp City

It's like Vegas fool. San Francisco and the Bay Area rappers, producers and DJs all get together for one good cause, to get drunk as fuck and make good music. Gurp City consists of hip hop pioneers such as DJ Quest and DJ Eddie Def to underground legends like Bored Stiff and Sacred Hoop to freestyle champions TopR and Conceit...pretty much every alcoholic rapper in the Bay Area of California. The Gurp Fam keeps growing and innovating rap music with artists like Trunk Drank, Z-Man, Fist Fam, Grand Invincible, Fay Dog, G-Pek, Eddie K, DJ Marz, Bullet Proof Space Travelers, Bullet Proof Scratch Hampsters, DJ Cue, Brandon B, Luke Sick, Iron Fist, Thuggy Fresh, 6 Feet Deep, DJ Mathew Africa, 4oneFunk, DJ Teeko, DJ Max Kane, DJ Mista-B, DJ B. Cause, DNAE Beats, Boac, The Makai, Third Sight, The AlterBoys, MC Oroville, Illsquad, Live Human, Lords Crew, Alex Pardee, Zero Friends, Big Sammy, DJ Raw B and Fatees.

Man, What the Hell Happened to You Guys?

What’s up kids? its been a min huh…. First off lets give super huge props to Big Max of the 40 Oz show for holding it down and keeping with the updates while the Gurpnet kinda fell off. Props to Dap 1 and Emcee Oroville as well. But we’re back now! We’re not gonna lie, its been a tough past couple of months. All of us here at Gurp City have been going through it in one way or another but still we manage to persevere through it all. We promise we’ll never leave you hanging like that ever again. Just to make up for it we’ve got a monster post with tons of goodies for you all to enjoy. But first, whats really good folks? Lets do a quick recap of the last couple months from off the top of the dome and if anything gets left out surely all the residents will mention it in the comments so keep up on this thread.

Tons more after the jump! Click Below!

When we last left ya we had just blasted off the MC Oroville “Do soMETHing” release party up in Chico CA and as you may have heard it was the undisputed Gurp City show of the year. Oroville would like to thank everyone for their support by giving away this free homemade video for the classic album cut “I Need a Hand Job”. The video was entirely constructed by MC Oroville himself! (DISCLAIMER: Please DO NOT download the video if you are under 18 years of age! We will not be held responsible for delinquent minors!!!)

Big Sammy “Cold Out Here”

Next, ya boy Big Sammy went off the hook and got Gurp City tatted on his arm. Thus showing why he’s a true boss en La Familia Gurp City. Check the free track from Big Sammy’s latest release.

gurp city crew
Lets see, what else has been going down? All kinds of mainey shit huh, Lord Topr has a new album in the works, as well as Eddie K‘s new one, also a G Pek Compilation in the works. Luke Sick and DJ Eons One are going to be releasing the new Grand Invincible album exclusively here on gurpcity.net. Conceit and Z Man have albums that are slated to drop real soon on Gurp City’s sister enterprise Machete Vox Records (see That’s the Blap) so keep your ear here for more info as those projects develop. Lets not forget about that Motel Crew record neither.

As you know Conceit has been riding high off of the youtube contest winnings and was recently spotted hanging out in New York with former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield before opening up for Simple Plan on New Years Eve. Check the footage, rumor has it this show was broadcast on a jumbotron in Times Square just before the ball dropped. Conceit is for the children, I thought you heard.

Like I said, Im sorry about the lack of posts over the last 2 months. I’m sure you guys weren’t too worried (all 175 of you) but here’s a lil something from me to you. I like to call it “Thuggy’s batch of shit that’s never coming out but fools need to hear anyways.” Its just a hand full of songs from releases that will never see the light of day but the songs are gems that the people need to hear. So tell your folkers that the Gurp is back and shoot them a link to the goods.

The Gingerbread Man “Cocaine Dealer” from Halloweeen
[mp3]http://gurpcity.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/gingrbread_man_cocaine_dealer.mp3[/mp3]
I don’t know what Grimm is thinkin but Ginja The Ninja has been puttin it down for a long ass time. This song is just a short little taste, but I’m working on getting Z to let me leak the whole album real soon. So stay tuned.

Faydog “Fever Dreams” from The Ultra Jank
[mp3]http://gurpcity.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/fever-dreams.mp3[/mp3]
From the super limited Utra Jank album, Faydog rips it over this G Pek banger. My Rellie is fucking raw, nuff said.

Gametightelectro “Feelin’ Off the Hook” From Paranormal Bar Stars
[mp3]http://gurpcity.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/feelin_off_the_hook.mp3[/mp3]
Fuck all that new school retro-fashion-rap. Brandon B has been holding it down for the forefathers from the get go. Git you some Get Grown!!!

EZ (Eddie K and Z Man) “The Perk”
[mp3]http://gurpcity.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/the-perk.mp3[/mp3]
My Favorite Gurp City song EVAR!. This song embodies what the Gurp is all about. I used to throw Backyard Boogies back in Chico (with the help of everyone else of course) just so i could watch them perform this song live. What ever happened to the EZ project??? I have like 10 cuts, it could have been a classic.

Gurp City All Stars “Live From the Drunk Tank”
[mp3]http://gurpcity.net/stash/St_Patricks_Day_2001.mp3[/mp3]
Eddie K, Z Man, Luke Sick and DJ Marz performing live from my living room on St. Patricks Day 2001. Everyone has their own theories on when, where and who started Gurp City. For me It was this day. Even though it wouldn’t get a name for another 5 months, this was the first time all the elements were in place. Listening to it now the show was a fucking trainwreck. But there are golden moments that stand out as classic material. Those who recall being there hold it highly as one of the best Gurp City parties ever. I just remember being hung over as fuck the next day looking at my destroyed house, getting ready to go to Mexico for a week and telling G Pek ” Man we should do that shit more often.”

Have a Happy New Year Yalls – Thuggy

I remember that night was mainey as fuck. Z was trying to contain a deadly tumor on the loose, the house was packed, the sound was fucked up and I woke up in the morning with 4 bikes in the back of my truck that Ellington and I apparently stole from EJ’s neighbors.

As far as the St. Patty’s (greatest house party I’ve ever attended but hardly remember) fiasco goes: Lotta bitter shit talkin’ goin’ on in those days. Glad I don’t do that anymore. Frrrnt!
    Never apologize Gurp City!!!!!
Gurp City IS bitter. Gurp City IS ugly. Gurp City IS broke. Gurp City IS drunk. Gurp City IS high. Gurp City IS jank. Gurp City IS rotting. Gurp City calls in sick. Gurp City gets fired. Gurp City balls on a budget. Gurp City pisses off significant others. Gurp City romances ‘em back. Gurp City pulls mo’ freaks (“get it on the hood ma, I ain’t done yet”). Gurp City got drank and dank brownies in the lot and under the p-coat in the VIP right now!!! Gurp City procrastinates. Gurp City fails to take advantage of successful opportunities. Gurp City fails the drug test. Gurp City stares at the bottles behind the bar for answers(aka Gurp Parliment). Gurp City yells at innocent children. Gurp City IS The Block Monster. Gurp City gets pulled over and pinched. Gurp City gotta an eighth and no cannabis card in the center console. Gurp City loses faith. Gurp City succumbs to demons. And in the darkest moment: Gurp City says FUCK IT, HOLMES. And you know what happens then?
Gurp City comes back stronger THAN EVAH and doesn’t even pay attention to anybody else, the rest are Mickey Rourke in Barfly, we ARE Bukowski, smell me?!!!
SO PULL YOUR BIG PANTS UP AND HANDLE ALL THAT SHIT OR DON’T STEP WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS ALL YOU NON-GURP WEAKLINGS, ‘CAUSE WE’RE STILL OUT TO GET YOU!!! Fear the Gurp Reaper in ’08!!
As far as my rellies go: MAN I love this shit, and all of you, LET’S KEEP OUR SHOULDERS TO THE GURP WHEEL AND PUSH AND PUSH AND PUSH AND NEVER STOP…LS

St. Patties 2001 the one and only appearance of LandoColdDissem’All. What I remember…Which isn’t much after Two mad dogs…Almost earling in my records numerous times. Mariel yelling at my sister for “looking” a Z. Luke throwing the patio furniture at innocent bystanders and Luke sliding across the beer drenched floor and landing in the centerfold pose multiple times.
