Its Going Down in RENO THIS SAT!!!
If theres any possibility for you to hit Reno NV this Saturday I highly recommend that you make it out to the The Tortoise Rising Show Being put on by the big homie Stacks Malone. G Pek met up with Stacks a while back and the two have been plottin big thangs for Reno area gurpers in the near future. Fist off this Sat at the Record Street Cafe Stacks is having an art opening where he’s going to be selling tons of dope art along side the beat backdrops of DJ’s G-Pek, Caserock and Borg One. As for the Hip Hop portion of the night Hiero’s Opio is a sure shot to put on a dope show but with Gurp City’s finest slated to open, our boys just might steal the show. Z-Man, G-Pek, Luke Sick and TopR will be in full effect so bring your girlfriends and leave the handcuffs at home. Odds are on Luke Sick to lose the farm at the roulette table around 4:30am. For more information about the show hit up Stacks Malone at his myspace page.

The 40 Oz Show: 06.06.07…THE SUMMER JAMS SHOW
Here it is — The SUMMER JAMS edition of The 40 Oz Show for the first full week of June, a little something to get you in the summer mood.
For the record, this show was not as easy to put together as I had initially thought. There were three basic rules to determining what constitutes a summer jam:
- the song or album had to have been released sometime in June, July or August
…OR…
- the song or album title had to have the word “summer” in it
…OR…
- the song had to be obviously, unmistakably about the summer
On top of that, the song had to have some resonance as a summer jam, something in the sound of the music that harkens to summer, and/or some history as a “classic” summer jam; there are plenty of songs that came out during the summer or have “summer” in the title that still aren’t the least bit summer-y.
Ultimately, I realized how subjective all this can be. I also realized that there are some great summer mixes out there on the internet — way better than this one — so I tried not to take it too seriously and just have fun with it.
In the end, for better or worse, here’s The 40 Oz Show’s Summer Jams Edition. Enjoy it with your favorite cold beverage…
- Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, “Summertime,” Homebase (Jive)
- UGK, “The Game Belongs To Me,” Underground Kingz (Jive)
