What’s Really Going On?

Word up to Big Max for still being down as fuck and making you guys your bi-weekly mixtape to live your life too, tell more people to download it, they’ll appreciate it. So yeah, things are tough all over and the blog has suffered. Not that we havent been productive over in the land of gurp, there’s actually alot of big thangs popping off around here other than seeing Z Man singing his little heart out on MTV. I’ve reached out to a bunch of your favorite Gurp City heavy hitters just to see what the future holds for the dunken masses.

First off we have Grand Invincible’s DJ Eons One and Luke Sick.

Whats up?
What up, it’s Eons One from the Grand Invincible crew.Â I’m just lampin in San Carlos, smoking piff and poppin Flexeril.Â Patrice Rushen’sÂ “Before the Dawn” is on the turntable.Â I’m supposed to be at work.

What are you currently working on now and when is it coming out?

Right now we go the Grand Invincible (http://www.myspace.com/grandinvincible) “Purse Thieves” 12″ at the plant.Â Just ok’d the test pressings so it should be out by the end of September.Â We’re going in to start mixing the second album, “Cold Hand in the Dice Game” in October.Â Â Working on beats for other GI stuff.Â Trying to keep Ripped Open By Metal Explosions (http://rippedopenbymetalexplosions.blogspot.com/) updated on a regular basis.Â Funeral Shock just came out with another 7″ called “Paint Thinner” (http://revhq.com/store.revhq?Page=search&Id=COWA18) and I’m playing guitar in a new, as of yet unnamed project.Â Â We’ll probably have a demo done before the end of the year.

Are you going to be performing anytime soon and if so when?

Grand Invincible is playing at 111 Minna with Topr on October 3.Â Possibly an Alex Pardee art show that is supposed to be going down at Club 6 on October 22.Â Funeral Shock is on a bit of a haitus right now.

Do you have any funny stories that happened over the summer?

My bachelor party at the Hanky Panky (http://www.yelp.com/biz/hanky-panky-the-redwood-city) in Redwood City was pretty ridiculous but you know, you’re not supposed to talk about those nights.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

Â Thanks to Serg Dun Motel Crew got listed on the discobelle.com blog, and Cutso says he likes it too. Â Go to motelcrew.gurpcity.com to get a digital motel crew 12″ and an album sampler mix for FREE. Â I’m doin’ about 8 reviews for obscure rap 12″s on rippedopenbymetalexplosions.blogspot.com with free downloads of the wax tracks, so be looking for those in the next couple of weeks, too. Â I did a One Block Radius (now on TRL!!) interview that will appear in 944 magazine’s (free fashion and entertainment rag in SF) October issue with a sidebar that big ups Gurp City, be on the look out rellies!
What are you currently working on now and when is it coming out? I’m working on getting my duck sick. Â It’s coming out right now.

Oct. 3rd at 111 Minna with TopR, I think. Â And Club 6 with Aesop Rock, Cage, TopR (Alex Pardee Hurley line launch party) on Oct. 22nd, I think.

Do you have any funny stories that happened over the summer?

Last Thurs. 9/4/2008, I DJ’ed at Jack’s Bar in SJ. Â At the end of my nothing past 1990 set, a just turned 21er came up to me and said, “Are those remixes? Â I mean, those are new songs but you just remixed the beats right?” Â I’m like, “No, those records are twenty years old, music was just better back then.” Â Then he said, “That’s dope.” Â Before the set, I met up with SJ Dave and we smoked a gang of blond hash oil off of a cube of smokeless charcoal with a water-weenie. Â Half-way through my set, Dave comes up and grabs his record bag and says, “Mind if I run my lady home real quick, I, uh… got some work to do.” Â I ask, “You aren’t coming back are you.” Â And Dave glances in his lady’s dancin’ ass direction, looks straight back at me, and says, “No, I am not.” Â Dave, my funky ass get-em-in-da-mood set (I played “But I Get Nasty” by The Mac, same 12″ with The Game Is Thick on it) is the reason why you never got to play yours, you dick-guided motherfucker! Â Also, the Nuthouse Bar in Palo Alto after the Mt. View Rasputin’s in-store was off the hook, with TopR singing “Anal Rape” and writing it on pint glasses, hanging out with our underage fans who thought they were cool in the bar ’cause they had a shit-on-the-lip puberty ‘stache. ha, ha. Â BTW, Top, I went in there the other day, and Kelley told me to tell you yer 86′ed for life. Â She means it this time.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

I just want to say on behalf of my relly Z, OBR is on TRL, so all you hater-fag-bitch-dick-fucks can start crying and realizing your pessimism is only a reflection of your own personal failures and short-comings in the field of music. Â You don’t know everything assholes! Â Those with the heart to go hard are takin’ over next year, those of y’all who wanna play it cool with the hipster tell-me-what’s-fresh squad and play it all safe like yer day job’s fulfilling need to step to the left.

Whats Poppin This Weekend?

Sorry its been slow around here lately, been kinda busy trying to stay above water and the blog is the fist thing that suffers. The good news is, we’re going big this weekend.

Conceit is currently in hiding and will only communicate with people he doesn’t even know via message boards and bathroom graffiti. However, he did take time out of his busy cigarette smoking schedule to upload a new beat tape for you all to download. Click here to snag it.
